Ride Like King Event and Photo Contest Announced!
6th May 2013 - filed under GiantFor this year’s upcoming Ride Like King event, an annual celebration of cycling that’s named after and inspired by Giant founder King Liu, Giant is encouraging people around the world to get out and ride. And in conjunction with the May 17-19 event, Giant will host an online photo contest with a chance to win a new Defy Composite 0 road bike.
Every year in May, since 2009, Giant employees, retailers and friends get together to participate in Ride Like King rides and promote the healthy benefits of the cycling lifestyle within their own communities. This year’s Ride Like King event will take place over three days, May 17-19, and includes a photo contest on Instagram.
Participating in the contest is easy: Join a local Ride Like King event, or start your own, and post a photo from the ride to Instagram between May 17-19. Include the hashtag #ridelikeking, and you will be automatically entered to win a new Defy Composite 0 equipped with Shimano Ultegra Di2 electronic componentry. Giant will select the photo that best embodies the spirit of the celebration. To be eligible, you must also follow @giantbicycles on Instagram (http://instagram.com/giantbicycles).
Information about Ride Like King events can be shared through the global Giant Facebook page (www.facebook.com/giantbicycles). To learn more about rides in your area, or to start your own, go to the Facebook Ride Like King event page. We will announce the winner of the photo contest through Facebook and Instagram on May 22.
The Ride Like King event began as a fun way to celebrate King’s renewed passion for cycling. In 2007, at age 73 and after spending much of his life focused on the business of growing the Giant brand, the Chairman and President of the company committed himself to the cycling life. It started with a major challenge, a 927-kilometer ride around Taiwan, and it grew from there.
Over the last five years King he has dedicated much of his time to publicizing the benefits of the cycling lifestyle by participating in challenging rides, festivals and events in Taiwan and around the world. He has also ridden through China, Japan and Europe as part of his Green World on Wheels initiative, bringing attention to how forward-thinking cycling infrastructure can improve health, reduce pollution and enhance quality of life.
To join in and become part of King’s mission, just get on your bike and ride May 17-19. Then share your photos with cycling friends around the world! See you out there on the roads, paths and trails.
