4 riders, 4 Anthem X’s & 12 hours in the saddle
The Giant Store Radlett swaps their comfy in-store seating area and Giant TV on tap; for rain, mud and grit this weekend as they tackle the Dusk ‘til Dawn 12hour race at Thetford Forest, Norfolk. The four Giant Store Radlett riders will join around 1000 competitors at the floodlit start line this Saturday night and will face 12 hours of pine trails and singletrack.
The team have chosen the new 2011 Giant Anthem X 2 as the race bike of choice, with it’s OverDrive tapered steerer tube for precise steering, plush Maestro suspension and oversized Powercore bottom bracket for outstanding pedalling efficiency it’s perfect for the twisty forest singletrack of Thetford. In addition they have selected some super strong coffee and extra sugary chocolate to make sure they can ride through the night.
Equipment aside the team are focused on fun rather than serious competition. Store Director Dan Chapman said;
“We don’t profess to be the next Oli Beckingsale or Danny Hart reaching for the podium spots – our team is all about having fun and giving it a go, the result is definitely secondary. We’ve definitely got the best equipment for the job so that side is sorted, as for the training – we’ll see how it goes on the day! We’d like to show how much fun you can have on a bike and encourage the Radlett community to get involved in cycling.”
Check the website next week for a post race update and race photos. Good luck to the team!
